Jango – Ahhhh, Jango. Jango came to us in terrible shape back in December. He was extremely emaciated. It hurt my heart to see his pictures. He had a long road ahead to healing and recovery. His foster mom, Debra, took fantastic care of him…shuttling him to his rechecks…and teaching him how to be a pug. As Jango began gaining weight, she began taking him on long nature hikes…and Jango was completely in his element. When the time came to start looking for his forever home, Debra insisted that he be adopted by an active family that enjoyed hiking. Can you say “needle in a haystack”? As applications came in, I always asked how active they were…always thinking about Jango. Nothing. Then, one day I got a call from an applicant, Amanda, that has been approved for about 6 months. She lives in Louisiana and was finally coming to the DFW area to adopt a pug. She already had a female pug and was looking for a buddy for her. She was initially interested in female pugs. That evening, she “friended” me on Facebook. As I started looking through her pictures, tears began streaming down my face as picture after picture of her on the hiking trail or running in marathons flashed across my screen. She works in the environmental field and loves the outdoors. I had found her. Jango’s mom. Now, I just needed to tell her! I called her the next day and emailed pictures of Jango. Her response? “I love him! He’s the one!” She was coming that weekend to DFW to run in a marathon in Dallas and wanted to meet with Debra and Jango. Debra invited them to her home for dinner on Friday and it was love! Because she was running in the marathon during the weekend, Debra kept Jango with her until after the marathon was complete. Jango and Debra met Amanda at the finish line and then off they went!
