Fostering a pug

Fosters play a critical role in:

  • Providing day-to-day care for our pugs in loving home environments

  • Giving valuable insights about our pugs, including their behavior, temperament, health, preferences, and other information that is important to prospective adopters

What we provide to our fosters

DFW Pug Rescue provides all medications and veterinary care for foster pugs as well as harnesses, leashes, and collars. Often we can also provide crates, toys, treats, and food.

Foster responsibilities

As a foster, you’ll be asked to:

  • Feed, care for, socialize, and play with your foster pug

  • Begin basic training and house manners, if needed

  • Observe and accurately report your foster pug’s behaviors, needs, and any medical issues

  • Transport your foster pug to the vet clinic, if needed

  • Provide photos and bios for prospective adopters

  • Talk to potential adopters and arrange meet and greets in greater Dallas/Fort Worth under the direction of our team
