Mission Statement: We Rescue ALL Pugs Regardless of Age or Medical Condition. - No Pug Left Behind

Adopting a Pug

NOTE:  Prior to applying to adopt, all dogs currently living with an applicant must have been spayed or neutered unless the dog is actively competing in Championship dog shows, or unless there is a veterinarian’s note provided as to why their dogs cannot be spayed or neutered.

In addition, do not apply to adopt if the dogs currently living with you are not kept current on vaccinations, heartworm tests, and on a heartworm preventative.

Due to the nature of our rescue, we usually have more available pugs than are posted.   Since we are an all-volunteer organization, many of our pugs are adopted before they are posted anywhere.  Those that are posted can be found on Adopt-A-Pet, the DFW Pug Rescue Facebook page, and our website.  We start the adoption process once the application fee is paid, and the application is received. Pictures of some of the pugs available are on the main page of our website.

Adopting a pug into your family is a big commitment; usually 12 to 15 years.  Be aware that they will need yearly vaccinations and monthly heartworm prevention.  Estimate yearly cost is $500+ annually for food, supplies, vaccinations, and veterinary care necessary for the care of your pug.

Pugs are not adopted on a “first come, first serve” basis, but are matched with the desires and lifestyle of the adopting family.  Review the categories below and determine if the characteristics of the pug blend with your home environment; fill out and submit an adoption application.  Our adoption team will contact you and guide you through the adoption process.

DFWPRC takes in new pugs every week and your new friend may be on the way. While you wait, you can start the adoption process by continuing to the Adoption Process page.

Please Note: DFW Pug Rescue adopts pugs to Texas residents as well as residents in bordering states.
